One word names like Madonna, Cher, and Elvis have been long clichéd but, just think how visionary one would be if they just used their first initial. This is M: stands for Michael, Man, the 13th letter of the alphabet, and the beginning of a remarkable movement in the fashion world. It’s a vision, a revolution; it’s a new way of thinking. In his 15 years experience in the fashion world, M has brought a sense of iconoclastic triumph and inspirational gain to such a level that even his successors are in awe. With an amazing heart and an altruistic spirit, he has volunteered his time and donations to Hands that Love, Make a Wish Foundation, and countless Homeless Centers and Cancer Foundations. A member of the Advisory Board and former instructor at The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, his impressive fashion shows sponsored by Mercedes and SmashBox Studios are making waves internationally. This is just the beginning.
His fashion line is suave with a dash of distinctiveness and edge; mixing tailored blazers with bright alpaca scarves, ostrich jackets with perfectly tattered jeans, along with a series of one of a kind screen tees. A designer, luxury street wear brand for both men and woman incorporating eco-friendly fabric that caters to entrepreneurs, artists, talent, and independent thinkers worldwide. This contemporary line is the perfect blend of “individualism without separatism.”
M’s brand is stream-lined to be environmentally gracious intertwining unique revolutionary ideas. The use of charcoal, bamboo, soybean, and organic cotton are weaved into knit fabrics. He created tee shirts that release anti-oxidants into the skin by way of electrical charges from metals: the idea of enhancing one’s health with clothing that heals your body and increases performance and energy. In the Fall of ’09, ordinary price tags will be exchanged with recyclable paper filled with mango seeds giving fashion lovers the chance to plant trees and claim their stake in the movement. With the help of an Eco Consultant, M will be implementing the ergonomic functionality of some very green tactics: special lighting which conserves energy and emits less CO2, wiring that effectively routes levels of electricity, and even energy conscious food. His driving objective is to make sure that his shows will be 100% eco as possible while hitting new levels and leaving his green-stained mark. A portion of the proceeds from his events will be donated to purchase and plant mango trees, offsetting the carbon and producing more oxygen in the air we breathe.
With the collaboration of Johnny Dubowsky of Rock n Renew, a trade school in Kona, Hawaii is scheduled to open where M will be a key instructor. The school will specialize in fashion programs that teach garment creation using the latest computer technology and the sale of these items will accrue college funds for the partaking students. Even inner city children benefit from M’s philanthropic nature thanks to the generous donations from the sale of a very unique collaborated co-branded tee shirt due to a partnership with Will.i.am (leader of the Black Eyed Peas).
M coins the philosophical side of his brand as “sharing of info for better living via art.” With information symbolizing the positive energy that people exchange with one another and how this reciprocation mixed with the beauty of art creates fluidity of life. He expresses this perception from his travels and interaction with people from all over the world. “Whether CEO’s or Janitors, certain people get it: an understanding of life in general. A sense of unity of the world and an inner peace that we can all attain.” This harmony being the driving force of his movement: transforming the fashion world from the standard self-esteem boost from clothing to taking a massive leap forward by creating a voice behind the brand.
M has created a sphere of influence that makes being eco fashionable. It’s a beautiful approach to the fashion world all starting with a simple concept: one letter “tying in a lot of people to make a difference… making a movement.”
