Fourteen year veteran joke writer and laughter slot machine, Eliot Chang knows all too well what it’s like to go after a dream that very few succeed at.
Born into a very strict and traditional Asian family, Eliot was on track to attending Medical School and clocking in his days work to live out his parent’s dreams.
No One Ever Thought an Asian Comedian Would Hit It Big
Who would have imagined a painstakingly shy and reserved youngster’s destiny would be to pursue the life of a full time jokester? Everyone told him he wouldn’t succeed. Especially since in Asian culture, entertainers are not respected. Even his parents didn’t support him.
Eliot is definitely not an interchangeable comic. You’ll remember him for years to come. His raw, twisted humor intertwines high energy, analytical, and unabashed honesty with hypothetical situations and everyday issues. Expecting an hour of Asian jokes, he shatters the expectations of audience members nationwide. Using intuitive wordplay, he makes you question any judgments based on stereotypes.
Highly Inappropriate College Comedy Tour
Storm trooping over 400 College campuses, 40 cities and not to mention a myriad of comedy clubs Eliot plays with the big dogs. Performing nationwide at Gotham Comedy Club, Hollywood Improv, Laugh Factory, Comedy Store, and Comedy Strip Live, Eliot is a welcome face not just as a comedian but, as an Asian Activist Speaker. His hour long encore presentation sheds light on issues that usually get slipped under the rug: Diversity Awareness, Sexism, and Student & Politics. He perpetually inspires students to follow their dreams. Almost every time he brings laughter to a college, an Asian student comes up to him and says “I’ve never seen an Asian comedian before. Didn’t know it was possible.”
Comedy Central, HBO, and Other Media
Possibility should be Eliot Chang’s middle name. He is becoming on of the most talked about names in the comedy world scoring television credits such as Law & Order: SUV, One Life to Live, and comedy bragging rights such as Comedy Central Premium Blend, Chelsea Lately, Jimmy Kimmel, Craig Ferguson, Lopez Tonight, Conan O’Brien, David Letterman, Last Call with Carson Daly, and his own ½ hour Comedy Central Special.
Breaking the Mold
If there was an Asian mold, Eliot sledge hammered it, ran it over, and reconstructed it. This powerhouse comedian might have been the world’s funniest biologist or stock broker but, audiences all over are clapping loudly and keeling over in hysterics at an Asian comic that is standing tall for all ethnicities.
